In With The New

I normally try to post to my Heathen blog on Mondays. Initially, the plan was to do Sundays right after people receive their Holiness so they can pass some of it my way. However, on that day it is a little more difficult for me to access the internet so I had to settle for the day after. Today, it arrives a little earlier since I have a somewhat difficult transition ahead of me and will have to go off the grid for a bit. So now, after finishing Genesis, It would seem that it is time to switch to the Newer Testament.

Based on my understanding so far. The Older Testament is the more antiquated and deprecated form of this book as it is comprised mostly of fairy tales created during an age where a primitive society were more inclined to believe in fantasies and such. This “Message” book that was given to me is only the second half of the bible anyway so I take it nobody really cares about the first half anymore. I’m pretty sure that today not even devout Christians really take any of those wild stories very seriously. If so..well..good luck with that, I guess. Eventually, societies will evolve so the old ideas probably began to lose their footing. Therefore, someone (perhaps this King James person) had to quickly come up with new stories in order to maintain their grip, and thus the Newer Testament was born. Or something like that, I guess. Honestly, I really haven’t a clue. I’m not going to try and pretend that I know anything at all about this book. I’m pretty much making all of this up on the fly. So, I am not at all opposed to any suggestions on where to go next. You can almost think of this as a sort of “Choose Your Own Adventure” type situation since I am pretty much indifferent to this book at this point and am being driven solely on my recently developed curiosity on cult-like behaviour. To make it easier I have even created a poll (yep, luuuv dem polls) for any brave soul willing to venture to my tainted facebook page and even click a button on it..

FacebookButton

..this is by no means an exclusive list so feel free to add to it. I just threw those in there because they seem to be the most popular of the bunch. So have at it if you like. Otherwise, I will most likely just fan the pages open and let Jesus Christ pick a spot. Since he is unwilling/unable to help the invisible kids, the least he can do is help me read this biography of his. Thanks again for all of the wonderful input that you all have given me already. It really helps.

Sincerely,
Nowhere Man

  1. Well I'm not on facebook so I can't do much for you there.  You want to know what to read next?   You're determined that it's going to be the Bible right?  Just start at the beginning of the New Testament and slog your way through.  It won't be long before you start seeing references to the Old Testament and then you'll wish you had started with that lol.  It's a "no win" situation.

  4. I hope you enjoy the New Testament.  I actually read some of the new then go back to the old, then new, etc.  Helps keep it interesting.

  5. Just read the Gospels. Feel free to skip any words "not in red". Most Bibles today have Jesus's words in red. Those are about the only words in the Bible that are easy to understand, as they are almost always clear parables.

  8. Interesting. This bible that was given to me doesn't seem to have the red text.  I'll have to do some research on that.
